The Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS), created in 1976, is one of the Group A services mandated to provide accounting and auditing services to the government. It worKs under the Ministry of Finance through the Indian Civil Accounts Organisation. The officials are responsible for the development of processes and systems related to government accounts of both Central and state governments; and preparation of monthly and annual account statements along with periodic audits of revenue, deficits and borrowings.
