NEW DELHI: The Government of India has approved a six-month extension for Ravi A Robert Jerard to continue holding the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
According to an order issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension from April 15, 2026. The arrangement will remain in effect for six months, until a regular CMD takes charge, or until further orders are issued, whichever comes first.
Jerard, who currently serves as Deputy Director General (DDG) in the DoT, will continue to oversee BSNL in addition to his existing responsibilities as CMD of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL).
The order further clarified that he will not receive any additional remuneration for handling the extra charge during this period.
