NEW DELHI: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Anupam Misra for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited. Misra is currently serving as Director (Marketing) at The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited.

According to the PESB meeting minutes, several candidates were interviewed for the role. These included Nagesh Shenoy, Executive Director at Hindustan Copper Limited; Umesh Singh, Executive Director (Mining) at HCL’s corporate centre; Binod Kumar Gupta, Executive Director (Mining) at HCL’s corporate office in Kolkata; and Rakesh Tumane, Director (Finance) at MOIL Limited.

After completing the interviews, the board recommended Misra for the CMD position of Hindustan Copper Limited. The recommendation will now be sent to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for final approval.

Hindustan Copper Limited, a Miniratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines (India), is India’s only vertically integrated government-owned copper producer, with operations spanning mining, beneficiation, smelting, and refining.
