According to the latest regulatory disclosure by EIL, Gupta will continue to hold the additional charge of Director (Commercial) with effect from September 30, 2026, for a period of three months.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has approved a three-month extension of the additional charge of Director (Commercial) at Engineers India Limited (EIL) to Atul Gupta, who is currently serving as the company’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD).

According to the latest regulatory disclosure by EIL, Gupta will continue to hold the additional charge of Director (Commercial) with effect from September 30, 2026, for a period of three months. The arrangement will remain in force until a regular incumbent is appointed to the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The extension ensures continuity in the commercial leadership of the Navratna public sector engineering consultancy and project management company at a time when EIL is expanding its business across domestic and international markets.

Gupta assumed charge as CMD of Engineers India Limited on June 29, 2026. Before taking over as CMD, he had headed EIL’s Commercial Directorate since August 2022, overseeing key areas including business development and supply-chain management.

During his tenure as Director (Commercial), EIL strengthened its order book, expanded its international business footprint and consolidated its position in the domestic market. He also played a role in expanding the company’s presence in infrastructure and diversified business segments, while promoting technology-driven and sustainable solutions.

A mechanical engineering professional, Gupta joined EIL as a Management Trainee in 1992 and has more than three decades of experience across engineering, project execution and commercial functions. His career has included work on major projects in India and overseas, covering areas such as refineries, petrochemicals, pipelines and fertilisers.

The continuation of his additional charge is expected to provide leadership stability and continuity in EIL’s commercial operations while the process for appointing a regular Director (Commercial) is completed.
