Says it was the largest Budget in the history of the national capital.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the first budget of the newly elected BJP government, terming it a historic milestone.

Unveiling the Rs. 1 lakh crore Budget for 2025-26, CM Gupta said it was the largest budget in the capital’s history.

“This is a historic day, as this is not just any budget. The people of Delhi and the country are keenly watching how the government, elected with a record mandate, will present its first Budget,” she said while addressing the Assembly.

She emphasized that the Budget was not merely an account of government expenditures but a roadmap to transform Delhi’s future. “This Budget aims to usher in a turnaround for the city and align it with the vision of Viksit Delhi. It seeks to make the capital a confluence of its glorious past and a bright future,” she added.

CM Gupta stated that the Budget was guided by the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.

Taking a dig at the previous AAP-led government, she said, “It is unfortunate that in the last 10 years, Delhi regressed in every aspect of development,” citing issues such as deteriorating roads, a failing drainage system, and rising pollution.

“The previous government acted like a termite, weakening Delhi’s economy,” she remarked, highlighting that institutions like the Delhi Jal Board and the DTC had suffered significant financial losses.
