BSNL has been focusing on improving service quality, expanding its subscriber base and enhancing its competitiveness in competitive telecom market.
NEW DELHI: Department of Telecommunications has extended the tenure of Robert J. Ravi as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) by three months.
The extension will allow Ravi to continue leading the company during a crucial period for India’s public-sector telecommunications provider as it works to strengthen its network infrastructure, expand its 4G services and prepare for the wider rollout of 5G technology.
BSNL has been focusing on improving service quality, expanding its subscriber base and enhancing its competitiveness in India’s increasingly competitive telecom market. The company is also pursuing network modernisation initiatives to improve connectivity and support the government’s broader digital connectivity objectives.
Ravi’s continued tenure is expected to provide leadership continuity as BSNL advances its operational priorities and works to improve its financial and market performance.
Ravi was first given the additional charge of CMD of BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) on July 13, 2024, when he was serving as Deputy Director General in the DoT, overseeing standards, research and innovation.
His additional charge has been extended several times since then. In October 2025, the government extended the arrangement for three months, followed by further extensions in 2026.
