Global leaders meet PM Modi on sidelines of AI Impact Summit

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Croatia PM Andrej Plenkovic on the sidelines of AI Impact Summit.

At the invitation of PM Modi, Andrej Plenkovic is visiting India for participating in AI Impact Summit which is the first ever visit by any Croatian PM to India. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide spectrum of areas including trade and investment, science and technology, connectivity, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties. Recalling the conclusion of the historic India-EU FTA, they urged for an early implementation of the agreement to boost bilateral trade. Views were also exchanged on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Both sides emphasized on harnessing Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to prepare for a brighter future for the people of both countries.

PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit.

He thanked President Vučić for his participation in the AI Impact Summit. He also recalled President Vučić’s last visit to India in 2017 to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and his participation in the 2nd Voice of the Global South Summit held virtually in November 2023.

The two leaders discussed avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, AI, fin-tech, education, agriculture and people-to-people exchanges. They also shared views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They appreciated each others' support in the United Nations and other multi lateral fora.

PM met with PM of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay who is visiting India to attend the India-AI Impact Summit 2026.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the progress in diverse areas of cooperation building on the outcomes of the highly successful visit of PM Modi to Bhutan in November 2025. PM Tobgay thanked PM Modi for India’s support to Bhutan’s 13th Five Year Plan as well as the Gelephu Mindfulness City Project. The PMs reaffirmed their commitment to advance cooperation in priority areas of energy, connectivity and development partnership.

In keeping with the high emphasis placed on harnessing new technologies for growth and prosperity by both India and Bhutan, the PMs agreed to strengthen cooperation in AI and digital technology space through mutual sharing of experience and expertise as well as joint development of AI solutions.

India and Bhutan enjoy unique ties of friendship and cooperation, based on trust, goodwill and understanding. The visit of PM of Bhutan is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Bhutan.

PM Modi met with Alar Karis, President of Estonia on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

PM Modi and President Karis warmly recalled their meeting last year on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris. They reiterated their commitment to further India-Estonia relations, based on shared values of democracy and rule of law, and shared goals of international peace and stability.

They welcomed the significant strategic upswing in India-EU relations with the successful conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement during the 16th India-EU Summit in January 2026.

The leaders reviewed bilateral relations, notably ongoing collaboration in IT and digitalisation, and underscored the potential for furthering cooperation in futuristic technologies, e-governance, cybersecurity, startups and AI, including in education and skilling. They also discussed potential for collaboration in clean energy and smart energy management.

They expressed satisfaction at the growing cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Estonia. President Karis expressed appreciation for the contribution of Indian professionals in Estonia, and both sides agreed to work towards facilitating greater talent mobility and tourism.
