NEW DELHI: The government has ordered the extension of tenures of two top government officials including Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in service to Shri Rajiv Gauba, lAS (JH:82) as Cabinet Secretary for a further period of one year beyond 30.08.2023, in relaxation of AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 and Rule 56(d) of the Fundamental Rules,” an order by the government said.

Another order by the government said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in service of Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, lAS (AM:84) as Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs for a further period of one year beyond 22.08.2023 i.e. up to 22.08.2024.”

Prior to joining Home Ministry, Bhalla worked as Power Secretary and Director General of Foreign Trade among others. He has also handled various assignments in his cadre States of Assam and Meghalaya.
