India and Russia hold consultations on UN matters

Also exchanged views on current regional and global developments; says MEA.

NEW DELHI: India and Russia held the 7th round of India-Russia Consultations on UN Matters in New Delhi, discussing priorities in the United Nations and issues related to the UN Security Council agenda.

The meeting was led by MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George from the Indian side and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov from the Russian side.

During the consultations, both sides briefed each other on their respective priorities in the United Nations.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the discussions focused on key issues on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) agenda, including counterterrorism, peacekeeping and reforms of the Security Council.

India and Russia also exchanged views on current regional and global developments, the MEA said.

MEA Spokesperson, said on X; "7th India-Russia UN Consultations were held in New Delhi today. Co-chaired by Secretary (West) @AmbSibiGeorge and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Mr. Alexander Alimov. Both sides exchanged their priorities in the United Nations. The discussions focused on issues related to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) agenda, in particular counterterrorism, peacekeeping, UNSC reforms, among others."
