Justice Gill holds LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from the Punjab University.
NEW DELHI: The Centre has notified the appointment of Justice Lisa Gill of the Andhra Pradesh High Court as the new Chief Justice of the same high court.
"In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Justice Lisa Gill, Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court (PHC: Punjab and Haryana) as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court with effect from 25.04.2026 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur on 24.04.2026," the Ministry of Law and Justice said in a statement.
Gill will take over as its Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court on April 25, when the incumbent Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur demits office.
Gill holds LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from the Punjab University. She got enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and practised at the Punjab and Haryana High Court handling criminal, civil, service, revenue and constitutional matters.
