NEW DELHI: Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) has appointed Amitabh Kant as a Non-Executive Independent Director on its Board, adding another distinguished corporate role to the veteran bureaucrat’s career. His five-year term commenced on 29th October 2025, subject to shareholder approval.
A highly regarded policymaker and former CEO of NITI Aayog as well as India’s G20 Sherpa, Kant has been instrumental in driving flagship national initiatives such as Make in India and Startup India. His induction into L&T’s Board is viewed as a strategic move to deepen the company’s engagement with policy frameworks and to reinforce its commitment to sustainable, large-scale infrastructure development.
In a regulatory filing, L&T stated that Kant’s appointment underscores its focus on “experienced, independent leadership” to guide its long-term strategy across engineering, construction, and technology services.
Recognised for his governance expertise and global development perspective, Kant currently serves on several corporate boards and advisory councils. His inclusion is expected to further strengthen L&T’s institutional capabilities as it continues to advance India’s infrastructure and manufacturing ambitions.
