NEW DELHI: Nitin Khamesra assumes charge as Director (Finance), Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) pursuant to his appointment by Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. SCI Management & Employees warmly welcomed & felicitated him on joining the SCI Board.
Khamesra is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant, and a Graduate in Computer Science, with over 28 years of extensive experience in financial management, project evaluation, and maritime logistics. His career spans the energy and shipping sectors, where he has managed complex financial portfolios and large-scale operations.
Prior to his appointment in SCI, Khamesra has served as Chief General Manager at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), holding key leadership roles across multiple Strategic Business Units, including Shipping, Refineries, International trade & Treasury Operations, and Management Accounts.
During his tenure in IOCL, he served as Chartering & Finance Head (Shipping), playing a pivotal role in supporting procurement of crude oil, LNG, LPG, and POL, and in managing end-to-end seaborne logistics. He also served as Finance Head of Gujarat Refinery, where he led large finance teams and oversaw complex commercial, taxation, and project finance functions.
Khamesra has represented IOCL at various industry and policy forums, including ICAI, FIPI, and OMC platforms. He has also served as Nominee Director on the Board of Vadodara Enviro Channel Limited (VECL) and as Chairman of its Audit Committee, contributing significantly to governance, compliance, and financial oversight.
Recognised for driving strategic, financial, and digital transformation, Khamesra has been instrumental in the formulation of shipping strategies and chartering policies, introduction of long-term time chartering, risk management initiatives including optimisation of insurance and reinsurance placements, establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in GIFT City, and implementation of SAP-based automation and control frameworks.
A 4th Rank holder Chartered Accountant and recipient of the prestigious Maharana Kumbha Award and P. Sarkar Award of ICWAI, Khamesra brings deep expertise in maritime economics, global shipping markets, energy trade, treasury operations, and policy frameworks. His experience will provide strong financial stewardship and strategic depth to the Board of SCI, positioning him well to support the Company’s long-term growth and national maritime objectives.
