Declare establishment of strategic partnership between the two nations.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with the President of Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his visit to India.
They declared the establishment of a Strategic Partnership between India and the Philippines. The Strategic Partnership marks a new chapter towards realising the full potential for bilateral, regional and international cooperation between the two countries.
The Strategic Partnership is based on a mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral relations for the continuing peace, stability and prosperity of the two countries and the broader region, and serves as a foundation for the two countries to chart a future-oriented mutually-beneficial cooperation.
The India-Philippines Strategic Partnership is guided by the Plan of Action (2025-2029) adopted by the two countries on 5th August, 2025.
"President Marcos and I held wide-ranging talks on India-Philippines bilateral cooperation, regional and global issues. An important part of the discussion was to boost trade. Other areas like IT, healthcare, automobiles, minerals, space and science offer immense potential too. Growing cooperation in defence and security is also a very welcome development," PM Modi said on X.
