NEW DELHI: Sanjay Jaju (IAS) has taken over charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Ministry on Monday. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production.

Jaju is a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana cadre.

Jaju holds a postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Cost & Management Accountant and an MBA in Finance by background. He had worked in diverse areas like urban, infrastructure, civil supplies, education and tribal welfare. He has been an ardent advocate of information technology for development and governance which reflects in his stint with DDP.

Jaju played a remarkable role in establishing iDEX (Innovation for Defence Excellence) which is an ecosystem that fosters Innovation and Technology Development for Defence and Aerospace. iDEX is funded and managed by a Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) which has been formed as a "not for profit‟ company as per Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013.
