Uttarakhand CM Dhami Meets PM Modi

Seeks support for key development projects and pilgrimages.



NEW DELHI: Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi recently and briefed him on ongoing development initiatives and major upcoming projects in the state.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami presented the Prime Minister with a replica of the revered Shri Kartik Swami Temple, located in Rudraprayag district. He also updated the Prime Minister on the progress of key pilgrimages including the Char Dham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, along with preparations for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2027.

Dhami apprised the Prime Minister of the state’s achievements under the Jal Jeevan Mission and shared the current status of the programme’s implementation in Uttarakhand.

He requested the extension of the Delhi–Meerut (Modipuram) Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) up to Haridwar and Rishikesh to improve regional connectivity. In addition, he sought financial assistance of Rs. 3,500 crore for organizing the Haridwar Kumbh Mela in 2027 and Rs. 400 crore for the successful conduct of the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra in 2026.

Highlighting the state’s ambitious development agenda, the Chief Minister urged for the inclusion of the river-linking project under a special central scheme. He also requested the Prime Minister to direct the relevant ministry to facilitate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding for the Haridwar–Rishikesh Ganga Corridor and the Sharda Corridor projects.

Dhami further appealed for the approval of five pending hydropower projects and sought the Centre’s support for establishing a semiconductor manufacturing unit at NEPA Farm in Udham Singh Nagar district.

To enhance infrastructure in the spiritual towns of Rishikesh and Haridwar, the Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister’s intervention to clear the Rs. 1,015.11 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for undergrounding high- and low-tension power lines and automating the power grid. He also urged for necessary wildlife clearances from the National Board for Wildlife’s Standing Committee to restore and develop the iconic Chaurasi Kutiya in Rishikesh.

In a separate meeting, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma also called on Prime Minister Modi today to discuss key developmental issues and sought the Centre’s continued support for the state’s growth.
